Speak at a Rezoning Hearing
Members of the public who would like to sign up to speak on a specific agenda item can complete the Online Speaker Sign Up Form or call the City Clerk's Office at 704-336-2248. Speakers should complete the online form or call the Clerk's Office by 1:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting or can sign up to speak with the City Clerk at the meeting before the start of the agenda item.
Time allotted for public comments:
- Petitioner and those in favor gets 3 minutes combined to present case, unless there are opponents signed up to speak.
- If there are opponents signed up to speak; or if staff is in opposition, the petitioner gets 10 minutes; opponents get 10 minutes (combined); and petitioner gets a 2-minute rebuttal.
Community members wishing to speak are encouraged to coordinate prior to the public hearing as speaking times must be shared by all individuals signed up to speak.
