The City of Charlotte is seeking landlords of single-family rental units in the city to help provide housing for tenants earning between 50 and 80 percent of the area median income. The City of Charlotte will provide approved landlords the difference between fair market rent and 30 percent of a household’s income. To qualify for this city pilot program, landlords must have owned and rented the property for at least two years, are current on all property taxes and have no outstanding code violations.
To get started, completed the interest form below. A city staff member will follow up to qualify a property so the landlord can begin receiving quarterly up-front Rent With Ease payments. The process involves four steps:
Complete a qualification form
Receive a satisfactory score on the Landlord Scoring Matrix
Complete a successful home evaluation and in-person interview
Select a new tenant within the income range or receive approval for an existing tenant.
Quarterly, up-front Rent with Ease payments
$250 to assist with marketing fees and the tenant identification process
$250 at the conclusion of the program after the landlord has successfully completed the quarterly program check-ins and final survey.
