***UPDATE*** Westover Division - Homicide in the 3500 block of Griffith Street

Charlotte, N.C. - (Monday, March 16, 2020) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Donquavis Johnson, DOB: 09/23/2001, for the murder of Antwon Risher.

On March 15, 2020, officers in the Metro Division located the suspect vehicle associated with this case and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.  The driver refused to stop, and a vehicle pursuit ensued.  Officers initially lost sight of the vehicle but were able to relocate it after it had caused a collision with another unoccupied vehicle.  No police vehicles were involved in the collision.  All occupants were detained, and after an interview with Homicide Unit detectives, Johnson was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Sunday, March 15, 2020) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3500 block of Griffith Street in the Westover Division.  The call for service came in at 11:35 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020. 

Westover Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a male with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the apartment complex.  He was pronounced deceased by MEDIC at the scene.  The victim's identity will be released pending family notification. 

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, CFD, Medic and Operations Command responded to the scene.
