***UPDATE*** Westover Division - Homicide in the 200 block of East Woodlawn Road

Case Update: Tuesday, July 30, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged two adults for their involvement in the death of this child.   Yasmine Danielle Richardson, DOB: 12/06/1994, has been charged with Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Injury and Daquan Harmon McFadden, DOB: 09/28/1995, has been charged with both Murder and with Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Injury.  Both suspects have been interviewed at the Law Enforcement Center and are being transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Jail.

The victim's name is not being released at this time.   Yasmine Richardson is the victim's biological mother.  Daquan McFadden is in a dating relationship with Yasmine Richardson and has been living with both her and the victim.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit is conducting a death investigation near the 200 block of East Woodlawn Road, which is in the Westover Division.

On July 30, 2019, at 10:43 a.m., officers responded to the Best Western at 242 East Woodlawn Road, and when they arrived, they located a one-year-old child in need of medical attention.  The child was transported by MEDIC to the hospital and has since been pronounced deceased.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area and determining whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident.  Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  CMPD's Operations Command, MEDIC, and CFD also responded to the scene.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
