Case Update: Tuesday, December 18, 2018,

The victim in this case has been identified as Juforest Ishaih Hicks , DOB: 07/11/1997His family has been notified of his death.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Tuesday, December 18, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1400 block of Axminster Court in the Westover Division.  The call for service came in at 10:50 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018.

Westover Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 7100 block of South Boulevard.  Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim with gunshot wounds.  He was transported by medic to the hospital. Information gathered during the investigation revealed that the incident occurred in the 1400 block of Axminster Court and the victim was transported to the 7100 block of South Boulevard where 911 was called.

On December 18, 2018, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.  His name will be released once his family has been notified.

Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services and Operations Command responded to the scene.
