***UPDATE*** Westover Division - Detectives investigating a sexual assault in the 1600 block of Woodlawn Road

Case Update: Friday, December 07, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Sexual Assault Unit have charged Travis Lamont Blakley, DOB: 01/13/1988, for his involvement in these cases.

During the investigation, detectives received information that provided a name for the suspect involved in these cases. Sexual Assault Unit Detectives were able to positively identify the suspect and determine that he had an outstanding warrant. Detectives with the Targeted Response and Apprehension Unit located and arrested Blakley this afternoon for the unrelated felony probation warrant and transported him to police headquarters where he was interviewed by Sexual Assault Detectives.

At the completion of the interview, Blakley was charged with 1st degree Attempted Rape, 1st degree Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Assault by Strangulation and Common Law Robbery and transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail.

Case Update: Monday, November 19, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Sexual Assault Unit continue seeking the public's assistance in providing information that will assist them in identifying the suspect involved in a carjacking, robbery and sexual assault that occurred in the Westover Division.  Please continue to broadcast the photographs below.

During the investigation, detectives developed information concerning a robbery that the suspect was involved in prior to the carjacking.  On  Friday, November 16, 2018 at 1:19 a.m., Westover Division officers were dispatched to a robbery call for service in the 1800 block of Montford Drive.  The female advised that an unknown suspect entered her vehicle and stole personal property. A short time later, at 2:03 a.m., Westover Division officers responded to a carjacking/sexual assault call for service. The female victim advised that she was using an ATM in the 1600 block of E Woodlawn Road when she was approached by an unknown male.  The suspect forced his way into her vehicle with a weapon, drove to another location and attempted to sexually assault the victim. Due to the proximity and suspect description in these two incidents, Detectives believe they are related.

On Friday, November 16, 2018, Westover Division officers located the victim's 2009 Hyundai Sonata in the 1300 block of Skyview Road. It was displaying South Carolina tag PEJ-947 and was unoccupied when officers encountered it. 

During the course of the investigation, Sexual Assault Unit Detectives gathered surveillance video and are asking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect in this case. After reviewing additional surveillance footage, the suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'7-5'8, and was last seen wearing jeans, a two tone jean jacket, black and white shoes, black hat and a gray mask covering his nose and mouth.

Westover Division officers have been conducting additional patrols in the area of Park Road Shopping Center, Parktowne Village, and Montford Drive. There are also overtime opportunities for officers in the retail areas directly adjacent to the incident location.

During the course of the investigation, Sexual Assault Unit Detectives gathered additional surveillance video and are continuing to ask assistance in identifying the suspect in this case. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'10", and was last seen wearing jeans, a two tone jean jacket, black and white shoes, black hat and a gray mask covering his nose and mouth.

On November 17, 2018, Westover Division Officers located the 2009 Hyundai Sonata with South Carolina tag PEJ-947 unoccupied.  Detectives continue to ask for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect involved in this case.  The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'10", and was last seen wearing jeans, a two tone jacket (possibly gray and white), black and white shoes, black hat and a gray mask covering his nose and mouth.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Sexual Assault Unit are requesting the public's assistance in providing information that will assist them in identifying the suspect involved in a carjacking and sexual assault that occurred in the Westover Division.

On Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:03 a.m., Westover Division officers were dispatched to a carjacking/sexual assault call for service. The 22-year-old female victim advised that she was using an ATM in the 1600 block of Woodlawn Road when she was approached by an unknown male. The suspect forced his way into her vehicle with a weapon, drove to another location and attempted to sexually assault the victim.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'10", and was last seen wearing jeans, a two tone jacket (possibly gray and white), black and white shoes, black hat and a gray mask covering his nose and mouth.  (Please see photographs below).

The suspect may be in possession of the victim's vehicle, a 2009 Hyundai Sonata with South Carolina tag PEJ-947.
