***UPDATE*** University City Division - Homicide in the 9900 block of University Village Boulevard

Case Update:  Saturday, May 05, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit has charged Javier Concepcion-Perez, DOB 08/25/1998, for the murder of Donqwavias Davis.

As a result of continued investigation into this case, Concepcion-Perez was identified as a suspect.  Concepcion-Perez was arrested by VCAT with assistance from the NCSBI and the US Secret Service and transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, Concepcion-Perez was transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with Firearm by Felon and Murder.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

The victim in this case has been identified as Donqwavias Davis, DOB: 04/23/1997His family has been notified of his death.

Wednesday, May 1, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 9900 block of University Village Boulevard in the University City Division.  The call for service came in at 7:49 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.  

University City Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service on University Village Boulevard.  Upon arrival, they located a male victim with gunshot wounds in the pool area of the apartment.  Medic transported the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.  His name will be released once his family has been notified.  This incident has no affiliation to The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and there are no threats to the campus. 

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, Aviation Unit,  RTCC, Medic, CFD and Operations Command responded to the scene.
