***UPDATE*** University City Division - Homicide in the 8300 block of Classic Drive

Case Update: Wednesday, September 11, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Antonio Prez Meadows B/M 11/08/1982, for the murder of Kenny Ollemi.

As a result of continued investigation into this case, Homicide Unit detectives identified Meadows as a suspect.  On 09/11/2019 detectives obtained warrants on Meadows for Murder,  Discharging a barreled weapon into occupied property inflicting serious injury, Firearm by convicted felon, Failure to remain at the scene of a crash when death or bodily injury occurs and Possession of drug paraphernalia. Meadows, who is currently in the custody of the Union County Sheriff's Office for an unrelated charge, has been interviewed by Detectives and remains in the custody of the Union County Sheriff's Office.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.

Case Update: Tuesday, August 27, 2019

The victim in this case has been identified as Kenny Ollemi, DOB: 03/28/1966His family has been notified of his death.

Tuesday, August 27, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 8300 block of Classic Drive in the University City Division.  The call for service came in at 12:07 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. 

University City Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a male inside of a vehicle with a gunshot wound.  Medic transported the victim to the hospital.  The victim was pronounced deceased a short time later by hospital staff.  His name will be released once his family has been notified.

At this time, detectives believe that the victim was inside the vehicle when he was shot.  The vehicle was discovered crashed in the parking lot.

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Medic, CFD, Victim Services and Operations Command responded to the scene.
