On Friday, November 22, 2019 at 2:15p.m., University City division officers responded to the 1200 block of E WT Harris Blvd in reference to a two-motor vehicle crash with injury. Upon arrival, officers located three motor vehicles that were involved and three subjects that had sustained injury. One of the subjects, Jeroline Yvette Williams, was the operator of a 2017 Chevrolet Sonic that was involved in the crash. Another subject, Camron Tyler Moore, was the operator of a 1999 Ford Mustang that was also involved. Jeroline Williams was transported to Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center with life threatening injury and Camron Moore along with his passenger, Tyler Washington-Brown, were also transported but with minor injury. The third motor vehicle involved was a 2008 Jeep Patriot being operated by Erika Mauldin. Mauldin and her passenger, Greg Mauldin, did not sustain injury in this crash.
Due to the injuries sustained by Jeroline Williams, CMPD's Major Crash Unit was contacted to conduct an investigation of this crash. Upon the arrival of the Major Crash Unit, Jeroline Williams was pronounced deceased by medical staff.
The preliminary investigation showed that Williams was traveling northwest on E WT Harris Blvd and entered a center median left turn area in order to turn left onto University Ridge Dr. While executing the left turn, the Chevy operated by Williams was struck by the Ford Mustang operated by Moore. After being struck by the Ford, the Chevrolet was then forced off the roadway and just prior to leaving the roadway it struck the Jeep in the right rear area. At the time of the crash, the Jeep was making a right turn onto E WT Harris Blvd from University Ridge Dr. After striking the Chevrolet, the Ford ran off the roadway to the right and up an embankment.
While on scene, it was determined that both Moore and Charlie Molina-Calderon were operating their motor vehicles at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. Charlie Molina-Calderon was operating a 2010 Dodge Avenger that was positioned just behind the Ford. The Dodge did not make contact with the Chevrolet or Ford. Both Moore and Molina-Calderon were initially issued citations for reckless driving.
After a review of the roadway evidence, witness statements, video evidence, and a reconstruction of the crash events, it was determined that both Moore and Molina-Calderon were driving recklessly and aggressively prior to, and during the crash.
On December 9, 2019, detectives with the Major Crash Unit obtained arrest warrants for Involuntary Manslaughter for both Moore and Molina-Calderon. Both were arrested on December 9, 2019. All subjects involved in this crash were wearing seatbelts and none of the operators were impaired.
Speed and reckless/aggressive driving are factors for this crash.
The victim's family has been notified of her death.
This is an ongoing, active investigation. As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs. Any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with information concerning the crash, should contact Detective Crum at (704) 432-2169 Ex. 4or Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
