Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Armed Robbery Unit have charged Carl Thompson, DOB: 05/06/1989, and Jervarve Wise, DOB: 02/26/1992, for their involvement in this series of armed robberies.
During the investigation, Armed Robbery Detectives received information from the community through a Crime Stoppers tip, as well as information from the Crime Analysis Unit, identifying Thompson and Wise as the suspects in this armed robbery series. Thanks to the tip from the community and Crime Analysis, along with evidence gathered during the course of the investigations, detectives signed warrants for their arrest and requested the assistance of the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team in locating Thompson and Wise.
On April 6, 2016, both Wise and Thompson were taken into custody without incident by members of the VCAT. They were subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were interview by Armed Robbery Detectives and then transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
Thompson has been charged with Attempted Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Felony Conspiracy. Wise has been charged with Attempted Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, 3 counts of Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, 2nd Degree Kidnapping and Felony Conspiracy.
These investigations are ongoing and additional charges are pending. As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Armed Robbery Unit are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspects, pictured below, who have committed four armed robberies from businesses.
On March 25, 2016, at approximately 1:41 a.m., an unknown black male robbed the Kangaroo Express, located at 8008 Harris Station, at gunpoint. After receiving property from the business the suspects fled the scene (see report number 20160325-0141-02).
On March 29, 2016, at approximately 6:51 p.m., one black male suspect entered the Cricket business, located at 2818 W. Sugar Creek Road, and robbed the business at gunpoint. They then fled the scene (see report number 20160329-1851-01).
On March 31, 2016, at approximately 12:08 a.m., the suspects entered the 7-Eleven business, located at 2701 The Plaza, and robbed the business at gunpoint (20160331-0008-00). Later that evening, at approximately 10:01 p.m., one of the suspects also robbed the Family Dollar, located at 5430 N. Tryon Street, at gunpoint (20160331-2201-03).
One of the suspects is described as a black male, approximately 5'10" in height and a slim build. The second suspect is a black male in his late teens, approximately 5'7"-5'9" and has a thin build. Detectives believe there may be one or two additional suspects assisting these two suspects with committing these robberies with only one or two of them actually entering the businesses.
