Officers Successfully De-escalate incident involving combative man

On August 20, 2020, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the 13000 block of Cedar Farm Road concerning a Domestic Assault call for service. Upon officers’ arrival, the agitated subject quickly advanced towards Officer R. Colpitts as he exited his patrol vehicle. The subject pushed Officer Colpitts and attempted to remove Officer Colpitts’s gun from the holster while asking the officer to kill him. Additional officers arrived, including Officer Ray Hughes, who successfully de-escalated the situation by delivering effective communication skills.

A Superior Court Judge has granted a petition to release all body-worn camera videos associated with this incident. The videos can be viewed here:
