On June 2, 2018, at 3:10 p.m., Steele Creek Division patrol officers responded to an overdose call for service in the 300 block of Archdale Drive. Upon officers arrival, they located an unresponsive female inside a motel room with physical signs of injuries. The victim, identified as Jameriane Laverne Ardrey, DOB: 05/03/1978, was pronounced deceased by Medic. Her family has been notified of her death.
A male, later identified as James Mangus Brewer, DOB: 03/26/1977, was on scene and transported voluntarily to police headquarters to be interviewed by Homicide/ADW Unit Detectives. It was determined that Brewer and Ardrey were in a dating relationship and involved in a physical altercation. At the conclusion of the interview Brewer was transported to the Mecklenburg County Sherriff's Office where he remains in custody. He has been charged with Murder.
Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team and Operations Command responded to the scene.
