***UPDATE*** Steele Creek Division - Homicide in the 7900 block of Nations Ford Road

Case Update: Thursday, August 08, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Dominique Rorie, DOB: 07/03/2003, for his involvement in this case.

Through continued investigation, homicide detectives obtained arrest warrants and the Westover Division Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) arrested Rorie. He was transferred to the custody of Mecklenburg County Sheriff Office and charged with involuntary manslaughter, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a handgun by a minor.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Case Update: Thursday, July 25, 2019

The circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation, however, CMPD has located and interviewed everyone involved. Detectives are not looking for additional suspects and say everyone involved in the incident are known acquaintances. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the District Attorney's Office for an independent review.

As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

The victim in this case has been identified as Charles Fullington, DOB: 04/03/1975His family has been notified of his death.

Wednesday, July 24, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at 7900 block of Nations Ford Road in the Steele Creek Division.  The call for service came in at 5:32 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2019. 

Steele Creek  Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a male with gunshot wound outside of a motel room.   The victim transported to Atrium Health Carolina's Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.  His identity will be released pending family notification. 

Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident.  At this time, detectives are not looking for any additional suspects in reference to this case.

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, RTCC, SIB, Medic, CFD and Operations Command responded to the scene.
