Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, December 23, 2019) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Christopher Chisholm, DOB: 2/12/1995, with the Murder of Robert Michael Hopkins.

On Sunday, December 22, 2019, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Metro Division officers located the suspect vehicle in this homicide, a silver Pontiac G5, on McAllister Road.  The officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver refused to stop.  A pursuit took place which ended on Park Fairfax Drive when all three occupants ran from the vehicle.  A short time later, Christopher Chisholm and Jaylen Barber, DOB: 10/19/1995, were both apprehended.  The third occupant of the vehicle, an unidentified female, was not located.  Detectives have been able to determine that this unidentified female was not involved in the homicide. In addition to other suspected stolen items, a total of four firearms were seized from inside the suspect vehicle.

Chisholm and Barber were both transported to the Law Enforcement Center to be interviewed.  At the conclusion of the interviews, Chisholm was charged in this case with both Murder and Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle.   Jaylen Barber was not charged in connection with the homicide.  The Magistrate's Office has charged Barber via a Summons with Resist, Obstruct and Delay for running from our officers after the pursuit ended.

Christopher Chisholm cut off his court ordered electronic monitor on November 18, 2019.  He had been placed on E.M. on November 6, 2019, as a part of his pre-trial release after being charged with 28 counts of Felony Conspiracy, 1 count of Breaking and Entering into a Motor Vehicle, and 1 count of Felony Larceny.    In addition to the 2 charges mentioned above connected to this homicide, when Chisholm was booked at the Mecklenburg County Jail early this morning he was served with 48 additional property and drug related warrants for his arrest.
