***UPDATE*** Steele Creek Division - Homicide in the 1900 block of Westinghouse Boulevard

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, February 8, 2020) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Raheem Kawon Fuller, DOB: 11/30/1989, for the murder of Juan Velazquez Hernandez. 

As a result of continued investigation, detectives identified Fuller as a suspect in this case and warrants were obtained for his arrest.  On February 7, 2020, Fuller was observed by officers in the 700 block of Westinghouse Blvd.  When officers attempted to make contact with Fuller, he ran from them.  After a short foot chase, Fuller was apprehended without further incident.  He was interviewed by Homicide Unit Detectives and subsequently transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office where he was charged with Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and 1st Degree Kidnapping.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Thursday, February 6, 2020) –  The victim in this incident has been identified as Juan Velazquez Hernandez, DOB: 06/24/1982. His family has been notified of his death. 

Homicide detectives have determined that an adult male suspect entered the business and shot the victim.  The motive behind the shooting is still unknown.  At the time of this shooting, the victim was working for a business which had been hired by the restaurant to perform maintenance on some kitchen equipment.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Wednesday, February 5, 2020) –  Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at the La Poblanita Bar and Grill located at 1925 Westinghouse Boulevard  in the Steele Creek Division.  The call for service came in at 9:10p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.   

Steele Creek Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a male inside the restaurant who had been shot.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The deceased victim's identity will be released pending family notification. 

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident and are working to determine how many suspects were involved.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, K-9, CFD, Medic, SIB and Operations Command responded to the scene.
