Case Update:  Tuesday, August 13, 2019

Edward Silk Garner, Jr. is safe and unharmed. He voluntarily came to police headquarters this morning after seeing his photo on various media outlets. Aziyah Sana'a Garner was found safe and unharmed with a relative on Pineburr Road in the Independence Division last night. Dior Muhammad was located safe and unharmed this morning with a relative on Trade Street in the Central Division. Officers located the vehicle belonging to the suspect in the 5800 block of Nations Ford Road.

The suspect, Edward Silk Garner Sr., has not been located.

Officers have located Aziyah Sana'a Garner, safe and unharmed.  The suspect, Edward Silk Garner Sr., along with Edward Garner Jr., Dior Muhammad and the vehicle have not been located.

Case Update:  Tuesday, August 13, 2019

The victim in this case has been identified as Aiesha Shantel Summers, DOB: 03/12/1991Her family has been notified of her death.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are currently searching for the suspect in this case, Edward Silk Garner Sr., DOB: 02/08/1984, who was last seen driving a white 2000 S430 Mercedes with a sunroof with North Carolina plates HCV-1629.   The suspect has warrants for Murder and Possession of Firearm by Felon and is considered armed and dangerous. Mr. Garner Sr. took his children from the scene at the 14200 block of Perugia Way and is believed to be in the company of Edward Silk Garner Jr, DOB: 10/17/2000.  The missing children are Aziyah Sana'a Garner, BF, DOB: 10/01/2017 and Dior Muhammad (not pictured below) BF, DOB: 12/23/2015.  Aziyah was last seen wearing a black romper with a purple and blue flower onesie.  Dior was last seen wearing black pants and a gray shirt.  An Amber Alert will be issued for the children.

Monday, August 12, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at 14200 block of Perugia Way in the Steele Creek Division.  The call for service came in at 4:22 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2019. 

Steele Creek  Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a female with a gunshot wound inside of an apartment.   The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.  Her identity will be released pending family notification. 

Initial information gathered at the scene indicates that this incident is domestic related.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, RTCC, Victim Services, Medic, CFD and Operations Command responded to the scene.
