The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating two cases involving victims who work at the same nightclub in the Westover Division.
On July 14, 2018, at approximately 5:15 a.m., officers responded to an armed robbery from person call for service. When they arrived at a parking lot in the 9600 block of Glenbridge Way, the officers met an employee of Club Onyx who said she noticed someone following her as she drove from work to a friend's house. She said she was trying to turn her vehicle around in the apartment complex when a man got out of the car and robbed her at gunpoint. (CMPD Report Number 20180714051900)
On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Steele Creek Division Officers responded to the 8500 block of Riverbirch Drive in reference to a breaking and entering and a sexual assault. Upon arrival, the victims advised that two male suspects forced their way into the apartment at gunpoint. One of the victims had just arrived home from her job at Club Onyx. One of the suspects sexually assaulted that victim, before he and the second suspect took property from the apartment and fled the scene. (CMPD report number 20180725033500)
Based on the circumstances and general suspect descriptions, CMPD is investigating whether the cases may be related. No arrests have been made.
