Steele Creek Division - CMPD assisting CMS Police at Olympic High School

On Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at approximately 7:55 a.m., officers in the Steele Creek Division responded to Olympic High School located at 4301 Sandy Porter Road to reports of a weapon being on school campus.  Once on scene, officers collaborated with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School (CMS) Police for an investigation. 

A social media post depicted several subjects and a firearm in a neighborhood near the Olympic High School campus.  Olympic High School was placed on lockdown while officers worked with the CMS Police to identify any potential threats or suspects.  No suspects or weapons were located on the Olympic High School campus; however, through the course of the investigation, a potential suspect was identified and detained off of the school's campus.  This potential suspect was interviewed by detectives, and at the at the conclusion of the interview, detectives charged this 15-year-old male with Possession of a Handgun by a Minor.

Through continued investigation, detectives identified and located two other potential suspects.  At the conclusion of these interviews, Victor Manuel Campos Romero, DOB: 01/30/2002, was charged with Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, and an additional 15-year-old male was charged with Possession of a Handgun on Educational Property and Possession of a Handgun by a Minor.
