Case Update: Homicide in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, September 6, 2021) –The victim in this case has been identified as Jeffrey Bernard Lineberger II, DOB:  07/29/1978. His family has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, September 5, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation that occurred in the 4900 block of Springview Road in the North Tryon Division. 

Shortly before 4 a.m., North Tryon  Division officers, the Charlotte Fire Department and Medic responded to a report of shots fired and several people potentially having gunshot wounds on Springview Road. Upon arrival, officers located a total of three people with gunshot wounds. Two people were transported by Medic to Atrium Health with gunshot wounds. One individual was pronounced deceased on scene by CMPD officers. The individual's identity will be released pending family notification. 

Detectives with CMPD's Homicide Unit and the Crime Scene Search team responded to the scene to conduct the investigation and collect physical evidence.

The CMPD's Operations Command, Special Investigations Bureau, Victim Services and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also responded to assist.
