***UPDATE*** South Division - Homicide in the 15000 block of Capricorn Lane

Charlotte, N.C. - (Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged a 15-year-old juvenile male for the murder of William Johnston.  His name will not be released due to his age. 

During the course of the investigation, detectives determined this incident is domestic related.  The 15-year-old male was on scene when officers arrived and was subsequently transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, he was charged with murder.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 15000 block of Capricorn Lane, which is in the South Division. The call for service came in at 6:48 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.

Dispatchers heard what appeared to be arguments and shots fired during the 911 call and dispatched officers to the scene. Officers responded and upon arrival, officers located a male with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Homicide detectives currently have all parties involved being interviewed at this time and are not looking for anyone else involved with this incident.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, CFD, Medic and Operations Command responded to the scene.
