Portion of LYNX Blue Line Service Discontinued Through Tomorrow
LYNX Blue Line service between UNC Charlotte Main Station and McCullough Station will not operate for the remainder of the day due to damage to the overhead catenary system (OCS) caused by an automobile this morning. The OCS is the overhead wire that provides power to the trains. A bus bridge is in place to provide service to the affected stations. CATS is able to power trains and continue service between McCullough Station and I-485/South Boulevard Station. LYNX trains will operate every 10 minutes during rush hour and 20 minutes during non-peak times until repairs have been made and normal service has resumed.
CATS has assessed the damage and has ordered the parts that are required to complete the repairs. The organization anticipates a return to full light rail service some time Tuesday. The specific start time for normal service is contingent upon the progress of the repair work.
