Routes 40X, 46X, 52X, 64X, 65X, 74X

Independence Boulevard Busway

After 9am on Monday, July 17, 2017, the busway on Independence Boulevard will close for construction.  The morning trips on Monday, July 17, are expected to still travel in the busway, however, not the evening trips on Monday, July 17.  Starting Tuesday, July 18, 2017, all express trips will not travel in the busway.  Regularly scheduled service will instead travel the general purpose lanes of Independence Boulevard.

The busway closure is being coordinated between CATS and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The Hawthorne Lane bridge over Independence must be rebuilt for the CityLYNX Gold Line project. A separate NCDOT project will also covert the busway into a reversible Express Lane.

Back on June 26, 2017, new schedules started for the six express routes traveling the busway in anticipation of this construction.  Independence Boulevard corridor congestion is expected during construction activities.  Your patience is appreciated.
