CATS Public Meeting at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center
Route 86 Gold Rush Red Line
On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, CATS will be hosting a public meeting to discuss the proposed discontinuation of the Gold Rush Red Line (Route 86). This proposal is under consideration because of significant construction delays along Trade Street. This construction, the CityLYNX Gold Line, is slated to continue until 2020. Passengers will maintain the ability to travel between Johnson C. Smith University and the Charlotte Transit Center via the Route 7 Beatties Ford Road and Route 1 Mt Holly Road. Route 7 inbound travels along Beatties Ford Rd, passing by Johnson C. Smith University campus, and continuing along Trade Street to the Charlotte Transit Center. Route 1 inbound travels along Rozzelles Ferry Rd and W. 5th Street, turns onto W. Cedar St., and continue along Trade Street to the Charlotte Transit Center. If the proposals are adopted, the discontinuation would be implemented in August 2017.
The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center. The meeting will be held on the second floor in room 270/271. The meeting format is an open house, where attendees may drop in between 12:00pm to 1:30pm. CATS is seeking public input regarding this proposed change, and encourages riders to attend in order to provide feedback.
