I-77 Southbound HOV Lane Closure
Effective Monday, January 23, 2017
Routes: 48x, 53x, 54x, 77x, 80x
The North Carolina Department Of Transportation (NCDOT) has notified CATS, that weather permitting, crews will close the southbound I-77 high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane between the I-85/77 interchange and the I-277 Brookshire Freeway/I-77 interchange.
The HOV lane closure will begin on Saturday, January 14, 2017 and last approximately one year. The inbound trips on the Routes 48X, 53X, 54X, 77X, and 80X will be affected by this closure. The outbound services will not be affected. CATS expects an increase in traffic congestion along the area of the HOV lane closure. In our efforts to reduce the impact on the bus routes, CATS will detour the affected bus routes and utilize I-85 and Brookshire Blvd. CATS will continue to monitor traffic patterns to determine if further changes are necessary.
