CATS Announces Frequency Improvements for June 7 Bus Service Change

Charlotte, N.C. – On Monday, June 7, CATS will increase weekday frequency on several bus routes. The following routes will operate on an all-day, 20-minute frequency during weekdays:

These frequency improvements are part of Envision My Ride, CATS' initiative to redesign the bus system.

"Through Envision My Ride, staff learned that riders desire all-day consistent frequency, opposed to transitional bus timetables," said CATS CEO John Lewis. "By shifting our bus routes to this service model, we are able to provide greater reliability for our riders."

Since 2020, CATS has implemented 20-minute weekday frequency on 12 bus routes. The highest ridership route, Route 9 Central Avenue, operates every 10-minutes. CATS will continue to roll-out frequency improvements to other bus routes in the coming months. Concurrently, staff will continue the work of Envision My Ride through a Bus Priority Study to address the bus system's speed and efficiency.

Additional bus routes will be adjusted on June 7 to accommodate future CityLYNX Gold Line service and provide greater connectivity. To view the full list of changes, riders should visit ridetransit.org to view or call Customer Service at 704-336-RIDE (7433).
