CATS Buses to Feature Artwork from Charlotte Area “Senior Sweethearts”
Charlotte, N.C. – Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) launched its first-ever Senior Sweethearts Art Collection.
CATS invited Charlotte-area senior citizens to create colorful artwork in the spirit of Valentine's Day to be displayed on CATS buses in February. Seniors across the region submitted creations that highlighted messages of encouragement, positivity, and love. Selected designs were created into posters and installed on 60 different CATS buses across the transit system.
“Many of Charlotte’s Senior Citizens haven’t been riding transit due to COVID-19,” said CATS CEO John Lewis. “We look forward to the day that they’ll be riding CATS again. Until then, their art creations will symbolize their significant presence in our community.”
CATS is providing community members with the opportunity to respond back to the Senior Citizens who submitted artwork. Well-wishes, cards or messages received at the following address will be shared directly with the artists:
Attn: CATS Senior Art Connects
600 East 4th Street
Charlotte, NC 28202
Digital copies of the Senior Sweetheart artwork can be viewed at RideTransit.org.
