CATS Implements Additional Cleaning Measures
Continues Modified Service Until Further Notice
Charlotte, N.C. – CATS has begun implementing in-service vehicle cleanings on all buses and light rail vehicles. All hard surfaces are wiped down during bus layovers at the Charlotte Transportation Center. Light rail vehicles will start being cleaned during layovers at the terminus stations on Monday, May 11.
During layovers, CATS cleaning staff and contractors will have approximately five minutes to wipe down surfaces with hospital grade disinfectant. Layovers are already factored into the current modified schedule. Riders remaining on the vehicles will be asked to exit and re-board after cleaning is complete.
These added cleaning measures were implemented to increased sanitization efforts that went into effect on March 3. In-service vehicle cleanings will continue until otherwise announced.
CATS leadership is closely monitoring and evaluating how to best serve the community through the phased reopening of North Carolina. The health and safety of employees and riders takes priority in determining future service levels and safety protocols. CATS will continue to operate the current fare-free modified service until further notice.
Additional information about CATS’ current service can be found at RideTransit.org.
