CATS Urges Community to Stay Home
Enforces Social Distancing on Buses
Charlotte, N.C. – While CATS continues stringent cleaning protocols on all vehicles and facilities, every community member must do their part to slow community-spread of the virus.
In an effort to maintain low ridership and encourage social distancing, CATS is urging the public to only ride transit for life-sustaining trips. Life sustaining trips include trips to access food, medical facilities/pharmacies or essential places of employment. All riders are asked to follow the CDC recommendation of wearing non-surgical cloth face coverings while in public.
CATS is implementing additional measures on buses to better enforce social distancing guidelines. Staff has begun installing visual markers on the floor of the bus that mark six-foot distances. Riders should only sit in seats notated by a floor marker. Riders may not sit in seats marked with an “X”.
Buses will accommodate loads of no more than twenty riders at once. When needed, CATS will add additional buses to high-ridership routes.
CATS will continue to serve essential workers through modified service until further notice. Learn about CATS' modified service at RideTransit.org.
