Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, April 8, 2020) – The victim in this case has been identified as Qa'dir Avery Alverest, DOB: 12/06/2002.  His family has been notified of his death.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Tuesday, April 7, 2020) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 6400 block of Heatherbrook Avenue in the North Tryon Division.  The call for service came in at 9:32 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. 

North Tyron Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a male with a gunshot wound outside of a home.  He was pronounced deceased on scene.  The victim's identity will be released pending family notification.

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine if there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Victim Services, RTCC, CFD, K9, MEDIC and Operations Command responded to the scene.
