Case Update: Tuesday, December 3, 2019 

The victim has been identified as Perry Demetius Bostic, DOB: 01/16/1970.  His family has been notified of his death.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Monday, December 2, 2019 

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 5700 block of Barrington Drive which is in the North Tryon Division.  The call for service came in at 6:25 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019. 

North Tryon Division officers responded to shots fired call for service.  Upon arrival, officers began performing life-saving measures on an adult male who was located in a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was removed from the vehicle due to the vehicle being on fire. CFD arrived on scene to extinguish the burning vehicle. The victim was pronounced on scene a short time later by Medic.  His name will be released once his family has been notified.

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, CFD, Medic and Operations Command responded to the scene.
