Charlotte, N.C. - (Monday, March 23, 2020) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 5500 block of Ilford Street in the North Tryon Division. The call for service came in at 11:04 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2020.
North Tryon Division patrol officers responded to a discharging a firearm call for service. Upon arrival, officers located two houses and three parked/unoccupied vehicles that had been shot into. No one was found to be shot or injured at the scene. A short time later, at 11:16 p.m., the adult male victim was driven by acquaintances to Atrium Health's Medical Center - University, with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was then transported by MEDIC to Atrium - Main where he succumbed to his injuries around 2:30 a.m. The victim has been identified as Tyree McIntyre, DOB: 08/02/1999. The initial investigation has indicated that the victim was standing outside of a residence on Ilford Street when he was shot by the unknown suspect(s).
Homicide detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine if there are any additional witnesses to this incident. Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.
