Case Update: Monday, April 15, 2019

The victim in this case has been identified as Jamil Davis, DOB: 04/21/1998.  His family has been notified of his death.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.

Monday, April 15, 2019,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at the intersection of Hidden Valley Road at Sugar Creek Road in the North Tryon Division.  The call for service came in at 1:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019.  

North Tryon Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service on Hidden Valley Road at Sugar Creek Road.  Upon arrival they located two male victims with apparent gunshot wounds.   One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His name will be released once his family has been notified of his death.  The second victim was transported by MEDIC to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his wrist.   

A CMPD K-9 Team attempted to track the suspects but they were not located.  A short time later officers located a vehicle parked a short distance away on Hidden Valley Road at Yuma Street which appears to be possibly connected to this homicide.

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim's Assistance and Operations Command responded to the scene.
