The victim in this case has been identified as Samuel Harrison Stitt, DOB: 12/24/1995His family has been notified of his death.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at 1400 block of Ventura Way Drive in the North Tryon Division.  The call for service came in at 8:47 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019. 

North Tryon  Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a male with a gunshot wound inside of an apartment.   The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.  His identity will be released pending family notification. 

Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, K-9, RTCC, Victim Services, Mobile Crisis, Medic, CFD and Operations Command responded to the scene.
