***UPDATE*** North Tryon Division - Homicide in the 1400 block of Atando Avenue

Charlotte, N.C. - (Friday, March 27, 2020) - Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit obtained arrest warrants on Terry Connor Jr., DOB: 11/08/1986, for his role in the murders of Asa Shannon and Siojvon Joseph. Connor has been charged with first degree murder, two counts of first degree kidnapping, armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy and first degree burglary.

Terry Connor Jr. was in custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail when the warrants were served after he was charged with the murder of Scott Allen Brooks (report number: 20191209-0445-02).

Charlotte, N.C. - (Friday, February 7, 2020) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged a second suspect, Steven Staples, DOB: 04/21/1989, for the murders of Asa Shannon and Siojvon Joseph. 

As a result of continued investigation into this case, Staples was identified as a suspect.  On February 6, 2020, members of the CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested Staples.  He was interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives and subsequently transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with 2 counts of 1st Degree Murder, 2 counts of Armed Robbery, 2 counts of 1st Degree Kidnapping, Conspiracy to commit Armed Robbery and Felony Breaking and Entering.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Wednesday, January 29, 2020) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Everett Connor, DOB: 09/26/1987, for the murders of Asa Shannon and Siojvon Joseph.  

During the course of the investigation, detectives identified Connor as a suspect in this case.  As a result of collaboration with the CMPD Firearms Unit, the CMPD Gang Unit, the CMPD Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department, Connor was located and arrested.  Connor was interviewed by detectives and subsequently transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg county Sheriff's Office and was charged with 2 counts of 1st Degree Murder, 2 counts of Armed Robbery, 2 counts of 1st Degree Kidnapping, Conspiracy to commit Armed Robbery and Felony Breaking and Entering.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Saturday, January 11, 2020) – The victims in this case have been identified as Siojvon Joseph, DOB: 08/23/1984, and Asa Shannon, DOB: 7/13/1984.   Their families have been notified of their death.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Saturday, January 11, 2020) –  Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1400 block of Atando Avenue.  The call for service came in at approximately 6:50 a.m., on Saturday, January11, 2020. 

Metro Division  patrol officers responded to a call from a citizen concerning a vehicle down an embankment. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male and female inside of the vehicle. The deceased victims identities will be released following appropriate family notification. 

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, CFD, Medic, CMPD's Operations Command and the CMPD's Major Crash Unit responded to the scene.
