Case Update: Monday, March 11, 2019,

The victim in this case has been identified as Luis Felipe Ramirez-Flores, DOB: 08/1/1990His family has been notified of his death.

Case Update: Sunday, March 10, 2019,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Heather Nicole Ricci, DOB 04/06/1989, for her involvement in this case.

As a result of information and evidence gathered at the scene and during the interview, detectives charged Ricci with Murder and she has been transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. 

Detectives have determined that the suspect and victim in this case are known to one another. The victim's name will be released once his family has been notified.

Sunday, March 10, 2019,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in the 1000 block of Tara Lane in the North Tryon Division.  The call for service came in at 6:36 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019.   

North Tryon Division patrol officers responded to a domestic violence call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a male victim in the apartment with a gunshot wound.  Medic pronounced the victim deceased on scene.  His name will be released once his family has been notified.

At this point in the investigation, it appears to be a domestic related incident and we are not searching for a suspect.  Detectives are currently interviewing people who were inside the apartment when officers first arrived on scene.

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services and Operations Command responded to the scene.
