***UPDATE*** North Tryon Division - Homicide at 6001 North Tryon Street

Case Update: Sunday, November 25, 2018,

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Detectives have charged Demarco Crawford, DOB: 7/27/1983, with the murder of Justin Fuller.

On Sunday, November 25, 2018, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Targeted Response and Apprehension Unit along with Officers from the University City Division arrested Demarco Crawford.  Crawford was transported to the Law Enforcement Center where he was interviewed by Detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, Demarco Crawford was charged with the murder of Justin Fuller and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Jail.

The victim has been identified as Justin Fuller, DOB: 03/12/1993.  His family has been notified of his death.

Sunday, November 25, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at the Holiday Motel located at 6001 N. Tryon Street in the North Tryon Division.  The call for service came in at 2:33 a.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2018. 

North Tryon Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon their arrival, officers located a male in a hotel room  with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by MEDIC.  His name will be released once his family has been notified.

The initial investigation has revealed that the suspect had been visiting inside the motel room with several subjects who were staying at this location.  An argument occurred and the suspect left the premises.  A short time later the suspect returned and knocked on the motel room door.  When the victim opened the door the suspect shot him.  The suspect then left the scene.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Operations Command, and Victim Services responded to the scene.
