On Thursday, August 29th, 2019 at 10:48 p.m., officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's North Tryon Division responded to a vehicle crash located in the 4100 block of The Plaza. Upon their arrival, the officers located a 2004 Subaru Impreza stopped in the right-hand lane of The Plaza and a pedestrian laying on the curb in front of 4110 The Plaza, with his legs in the roadway. The pedestrian was transported by MEDIC to Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased by Hospital staff.
The initial investigation has revealed that the Subaru Impreza was traveling northeast on the Plaza in the right-hand lane when the pedestrian stepped from the curb into the path of the Subaru and was struck by the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, Mrs. Kendra Leah Bledsoe, immediately stopped her vehicle and called 911. Mrs. Bledsoe remained at the scene and was both interviewed by detectives and screened for impairment. No signs of impairment were detected for Mrs. Bledsoe. Speed is not suspected as a contributing factor of the crash.
