Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3600 block of Fagan Way, which is in the North Division.  The call for service came in at 7:14 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019.

North Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service at a residence located in the 3600 block of Fagan Way.  Upon arrival, they located a female victim in a residence.   The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC.  Her name will be released once her family has been notified of her death.

Based upon the initial investigation, it appears that the victim and the female suspect know each other and they, along with a male witness were inside the residence together when an argument between the victim and suspect began.  The confrontation escalated and at some point the suspect and victim both went into the front yard of the residence where the victim received traumatic injuries.  The cause of death has not been confirmed yet, however neighbors have indicated that they heard shots fired during the incident.

Homicide detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim's Assistance and Operations Command responded to the scene.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.
