"No Swimming" Advisory Lifted for a Portion of Lake Norman

Cornelius, NC – A NO SWIMMING advisory was lifted today for a portion of Lake Norman.

The “No Swimming” advisory was issued on October 28, 2020 after an estimated 300 gallons of untreated sewage discharged into Lake Norman near the end of Shearwater Point Drive in Cornelius. The discharge was caused by a broken sewer line serving a private residence. The line has been repaired and the discharge stopped.

Water samples collected by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services’ staff reveal that bacteria counts are within safe limits; therefore, the NO SWIMMING advisory has been lifted.
