***UPDATE*** Metro Division - Homicide in the 3200 block of Rozzelles Ferry Road

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, February 19, 2020) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Dayshawn Malik Beckham, DOB: 06/07/1996, for the murder of Zenita Graham.

Information and evidence gathered by Homicide Detectives during the course of the investigation led them in identifying Beckham as a suspect in this case and a warrant was obtained for his arrest.  On February 18, 2020, Freedom Division officers located and arrested Beckham without incident.  Beckham was transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed by homicide detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, Beckham was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with murder and carrying a concealed weapon.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, February 18, 2020) – The victim, in this case, has been identified as Zenita Graham, DOB: 08/27/1989. Her family has been notified of her death.

Charlotte, N.C. - (Monday, February 17, 2020) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3200 block of Rozzelles Ferry Road in the Metro Division.  The call for service came in at 8:06 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020. 

Metro Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a female with a gunshot wound in a parking lot off of Rozzelles Ferry Road.  She was transported to the hospital by medic and later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.  The victim's identity will be released pending family notification. 

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, CFD, Medic, RTCC, K-9 and Operations Command responded to the scene.
