***UPDATE*** Metro Division - Homicide in the 2200 block of Beatties Ford Road

Case Update: Tuesday, June 18, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Juan Zamora, DOB: 02/02/2002, Andy Garcia, DOB: 02/15/2003, and a 15-year-old female juvenile, for the murder of Alysha Johnson, DOB: 07/27/2001, who is the victim in this case.  Her family has been notified of her death.

As a result of continued investigation into this case, and through the assistance from the community, Homicide Unit detectives identified Zamora, Garcia and the 15-year-old juvenile as suspects in this case.  The suspects were arrested and subsequently interviewed by detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, all three suspects were charged with First Degree Murder, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.  Zamora and Garcia will be transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.  The 15-year old male juvenile was transported to a Juvenile Detention Facility.

This arrest was the result in large part to community members sharing important information with Metro Division officers.  Their involvement allowed Metro Division officers to quickly apprehend these suspects before they could victimize any additional members of our community.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 2200 block of Beatties Ford Road, which is in the Metro Division.  The call for service came in at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019. 

Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service near the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Lasalle Street, which is in the Metro Division.  When they arrived, they located a victim with an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

Responding officers were able to locate and detain three subjects of interest near the incident location. Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident.

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, RTCC, Medic, CFD and Operations Command responded to the scene.
