The victim in this case has been identified as Tydarrien Ford, DOB: 08/09/1994His family has been notified of his death.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.

Friday, October 25, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2100 block of Catherine Simmons Avenue in the Metro Division.  The call for service came in at 7:54 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019. 

Metro Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the area of Catherine Simmons Avenue near Beatties Ford Road.  Upon arrival, officers located a male with a gunshot wound inside of a vehicle on Custer Street.  The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.  A second victim was located in the roadway on Catherine Simmons Avenue at Custer Street with a gunshot wound and he has been transported to Atrium Health Carolina's Medical Center by Medic with life-threatening injuries.  The deceased victim's identity will be released pending family notification.  At this time, the relationship between the two victims is unknown.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit have responded to the scene to conduct the investigation and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, RTCC, Medic, CFD and Operations Command responded to the scene.
