***UPDATE*** Metro Division - Homicide in the 1300 block of Tinnin Avenue

Case Update: Monday, November 19, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit have charged Carlton Hancock, DOB: 07/01/1971, with the murder of Brian Scott Carriker. 

On November 18, 2018, VCAT Detectives developed information on the whereabouts of Carlton Hancock.  VCAT Detectives collaborated with Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department and the NC SBI and arrested Hancock without incident. VCAT Detectives took custody of Hancock and transported him to CMPD headquarters where he was interviewed by homicide detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, Hancock was charged with Murder, Assault by Strangulation, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Motor Vehicle Theft and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

Case Update: Sunday, November 18, 2018,

The victim has been identified as Brian Scott Carriker, DOB: 10/14/1962.  His family has been notified of his death.

Sunday, November 18, 2018,

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1300 block of Tinnin Avenue in the Metro Division.  The call for service came in at 1:08 a.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2018. 

Metro Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male inside of a home with obvious trauma.  His name will be released once his family has been notified.

Homicide Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Operations Command, and Victim Services responded to the scene.
