Public's Assistance Requested in Kidnapping Investigation

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, December 16, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have charged Louis Lamontrez Meadows, DOB: 09/22/1989, for his involvement in this incident.

As a result of continued investigation and community assistance, detectives were able to identify both the victim and suspect in this case.  Detectives also developed information on the vehicle that both the victim and suspect were believed to be within. On December 16, at approximately 11:30 a.m.,  members of the North Carolina DMV Incident Management Assistance Patrol (IMAP) located the vehicle and requested officers' assistance.  Steele Creek officers responded and upon their arrival, they located both the victim and suspect.  The suspect, identified as Meadows,  was immediately taken into custody on an unrelated arrest warrant and transported to the LEC for an interview.  Following his interview with Domestic Violence Unit detectives, Meadows will be charged with 1st Degree Kidnapping and Assault on a Female.

The victim in this case has since been transported to a safe location. It has been determined that this incident involved domestic violence.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, December 15, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg's Homicide Unit and Missing Persons Unit are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the victim and suspect of a recent kidnapping.

On December 15, 2021, at approximately 7:20 a.m., officers in the  Eastway Division responded to the 3700 block of Driftwood Drive regarding a Check the Welfare call for service.  Upon arrival, officers spoke with a resident who showed them footage captured from their video doorbell. This footage shows a violent encounter between two individuals and had a bookmark of approximately 3:00 a.m. on December 15, 2021.  A victim can be seen attempting to flee from the suspect on foot while seeking help.  The suspect then grabbed the victim, threw them to the ground and proceeded to assault them multiple times.  The victim is then dragged against their will toward a vehicle parked on the roadway.  The vehicle was last seen traveling toward Albemarle road.  Detectives believe that the victim has sustained injuries that need immediate medical treatment due to this assault and kidnapping.

The video of the encounter has been attached to this media release. Detectives believe the suspect vehicle is possibly a Silver Honda Fit.
