Independence Division - Student arrested for bringing a firearm to school

Tuesday, November 13th, 2018,

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Independence Division have charged Demondrez Dashay Tucker, DOB: 12/11/1998, in the following case:

On Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:58 a.m., school administration at East Mecklenburg High School were notified of a student possibly in possession of a firearm on the campus at 6800 Monroe Road.

The student in question was located by Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Campus Security Associate and Independence Division officers a short time later, and was found in possession of a stolen firearm. The student was taken into custody and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm on school grounds, and being in possession of a stolen firearm.

The school was not placed on lockdown and there were no threats made to the students or staff.
