Case Update: Monday, April 29, 2019

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit has charged Reco Lamont Perry Jr., DOB: 01/01/1996, for the murder of Shalecia Williams.

As a result of continued investigation into this case, Homicide Unit detectives identified Perry as a suspect, and a murder warrant was issued for his arrest.  In the morning hours of April 29, 2019, detectives with the CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) collaborated with the Gastonia Police Department to locate and arrest Perry without incident.  Perry was interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives and has been transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with murder.  Beyonce Rorie, DOB: 07/17/2000, was charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder, was interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives, and has also been transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

The victim in this case has been identified as Shalecia Shav'ea Williams, DOB: 5/28/1997.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 7100 block of Snow Lane, which is in the Independence Division.  The call for service came in at approximately 2:10 p.m.

Independence Division officers responded near the 7100 block of Snow Lane to reports of a shooting.  When they arrived, they located an adult male and an adult female with apparent gunshot wounds.  MEDIC transported both victims to Atrium Health's Carolina's Medical Center, where the female victim was pronounced deceased.  Her name will be released upon family notification.  The male victim is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Homicide detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are additional witnesses to this incident.

Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim's Assistance and Operations Command responded to the scene.
