***UPDATE*** Independence Division - Homicide in the 5700 block of Electra Lane

Case Update: Monday, July 15, 2019

The victims in this case have been identified as Gerardo Arellano-Sanchez, DOB: 10/20/1985 and Miguel Angel Molina Cruz, DOB: 05/04/1988. Their families have been notified of their deaths.

Hugo Arellano-Sanchez, DOB: 12/14/1994, was wounded during this incident.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.  As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.

Sunday, July 14, 2019

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at 5700 block of Electra Lane in the Independence Division.  The call for service came in at 12:43 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2019. 

Independence  Division Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service.  Upon arrival, officers located three males with gunshot wounds outside of an apartment building.   Two victims were pronounced deceased on scene.  One victim was transported to Atrium Health Carolina's Medical Center with serious injuries.  The deceased victim's identities will be released pending family notification. 

Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Victim Services, RTCC, Medic, CFD and Operations Command responded to the scene. 

This is an ongoing, active investigation.  As further information develops it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.
