Case Update: Saturday, February 16, 2019,
During the course of the investigation, Detectives have learned that this homicide took place in the 4700 block of Margaret Wallace Road in Mint Hill, N.C. The shooting took place at this location, however, the driver of the vehicle that the victim was riding in then drove to Bathurst Drive where the motor vehicle crash occurred.
The Mint Hill Police Department will be taking over the investigation.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4100 block of Bathurst Drive in the Independence Division. The call for service came in at 4:53 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019.
Independence Division officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries call for service. Upon their arrival, officers located an SUV that had collided with a parked vehicle. Inside the SUV, officers located a male with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The deceased victim's identity will be released pending family notification.
Homicide Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses to this incident.
Crime Scene Search has responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.
Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Real Time Crime Center, Victim Services, Operations Command, K9, and Aviation Units responded to the scene.
