Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division


Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, May 17, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 2500 block of Celia Avenue in the Metro Division.

 Shortly before 1:00 p.m. on May 17, 2021, officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service near the 2500 block of Celia Avenue.  When they arrived, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound.  Medic transported the victim to a local hospital where he has since been pronounced deceased.

 Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, CMPD's Operations Command,  Crime Stoppers, Victim Services, and CFD also assisted.
