Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, June 20, 2021) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 1700 block of Eastcrest Drive.
Shortly after 1:45 a.m. on June 20, 2021, officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service near the 1700 block of Eastcrest Drive. When they arrived, officers located two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. Medic transported both victims to a local hospital, one with life-threatening injuries. At approximately 5:00 a.m., one of the victims was pronounced deceased at the hospital from injuries sustained in this incident. The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.
Homicide Unit detectives are working with Eastway Division detectives to investigate this incident, which is now being classified as a homicide.
Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of the CMPD's Operations Command, Victim Services, and CFD also assisted.
